Most sterling silver jewelry will look great by polishing with a jewelry polishing cloth.  Jewelry with gemstones can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush, dishsoap, and warm water.  Be careful with fragile stones such as pearls, turquoise, amber, and opal.  These may require a special cleaning solution just for that purpose.

You may want to visit a jewelry store in your area and ask about professional jewelry cleaning services.  Many jewelry stores will make your jewelry look brand new for a small fee.
